Thanks Peter!

I want to echo something Peter wrote. NOTHING has more influence on a legislator than a personal letter or call expressing your views! Unfortunately for us, we have to deal with Stephen Lynch. I have dealt with his office before and he is USELESS!

BUT, I want to that Peter for his work on our garden project. He came up with a long list of potential funders for our garden.

thanks again!

Take Action!

Tell your congressional legislators to fund community gardens and support the bill titled Community Gardens Act of 2009. The bill authorizes the Secretary of Agriculture to make grants to eligible entities to establish, build, or operate community gardens.

Contact your Congressional Representative (either Michael Capuano or Stephen Lynch) to tell them to support this important bill. Tell them why community gardens are important and what they provide for the community. So pick up the phone or send in a letter. It is vital that we demonstrate our support for community gardening. Each voice will help influence the decision, so don't under-estimate the impact your letter can have. For the complete bill language and current list of co-sponsors go to www.govtrack.us/congress/bill.xpd?bill=h111-3225 .

If you are uncertain as to who is your Representative, go to https://writerep.house.gov/writerep/welcome.shtml,. You can then use this same site to email your Representative to support this important bill to fund community gardens.

Please share this information with your fellow community gardeners.

Hi Jeff,
I'm moving to Savin Hill in April with Ryan Murphy. I'm very excited that you are working on a community garden and would love to get involved. I currently have a plot in JP off of Lamertine Street SWCF. I'm taking a course offered by the Boston Natural Areas Network called MUG at Home in April. http://www.bostonnatural.org/MUGatHome.htm
Could you tell me where you are hoping to start the Community Garden and if you have tested the soil?
With Kind Regards,
Eva

Krafts has started a program for Community Gardens. Also it's almost time for the Food Project in Roxbury, raised bed program. For a fee they will come out and build a bed in your back yard.
Here is the history of the Food Project.
